The Mach Series Sulfur Guard System

Does the water at your faucets smell like rotten eggs? You probably have sulfur (H2S) in your water - and we can help with that too!

The first line of defense for treatment of H2S in water supplies is by shock chlorination or other oxidation of the water supply. This procedure can also be applied to just the hot water system if that is the only place where the sulfur-reducing bacteria (SRB) exist.  If the SRB exist in the well, shock chlorination of the well on a semi-annual or annual basis may reduce the problem. You can do this procedure yourself with care, or it can be done by AWS-SENC or other water treatment professional.  If the H2S is a chronic problem that shock chlorination does not cure, then the homeowner should consider a whole-house hydrogen sulfide removal system or the Kinetico Mach Series Sulfur Guard 2060.

The single tank system is similar to the whole-house dechlorinator except the media inside the tank is catalytic carbon instead of regular GAC.  The system is a passive filtration system and is subject to rebedding as soon as the carbon becomes saturated with H2S.  This can take anywhere from 9 months to 2 years, depending on the H2S loading and the water use.

As the situation with hydrogen sulfide can vary from household to household, it is best to contact the office nearest you to further diagnose and solve the odor problems in your water.
